Usually the password used to login in Windows 10 is the same password as your Microsoft account since it is the default account type in Windows 10. Not only that, the same password is used in all Microsoft services like Skype, outlook, Xbox, etc. So, in this guide, we will show you how to reset Microsoft account password so that you can gain access to your computer again.
What do you need to get started?
- A different working computer with Administrator rights or a mobile device with internet connection
- Your Microsoft email or phone number associated with it.
- Some patience.
Step 1. Go to https://account.live.com/resetpassword.aspx
Step 2. Click on “I forgot my password” and hit next.
Step 3. Fill in your Email or phone number and click “Next”.
Step 4. Choose how you would like to receive the verification code. Either choose email or phone number. (Note: If you have phone number set up with your Microsoft account then it is recommended to use that option)
Step 5. Input the verification code that you just received and click next.
Step 6. Now you will be asked to set up a new password. Simply enter any password and make sure to write it down in a piece of paper so that this time you don’t forget it.
Step 7. Finish the process and turn on your computer.
Step 8. Now login to your computer but this time use the new password that you just set up.
Voila! You have successfully reset the password of your Microsoft account and you can now enter into your PC as well.
Please remember that you will have to use the same password to login into all other Microsoft services since changing this password will take immediate effect on all Microsoft services. Just use the new password in every service and you will be logged in successfully.
Hopefully you guys found this useful and were able to reset Windows 10 password.
