How to Disable the Apple Watch’s Always-on Display?
In today’s bucket list, we have Apple Watch’s Always-on display feature for discussion.
In the earlier models of Apple’s watches, this feature was not available. But with the advent of Apple Watch Series 5, this Always-on feature has been introduced.
Incorporated with low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) display, the Always-on feature gives you the advantage of checking the time more frequently without having to tap the watch screen or raise your wrist to activate it.
It is always turned on by default and can prove to be helpful in several ways. But there are situations when it becomes quite pesky. For instance, the feature drains out your battery heavily. And if you are in a situation when you need to save every bit of your battery juice, turning it off is the only better substitute.
Since you are aware of the necessity to disable the feature now, you can read the methods below to know how to do it.
Method #1: Disable Always-on Feature from Apple Watch
Since the feature is being displayed on the Apple watch screen, disabling it using the very watch is the direct approach.
Just follow up the step guide-line given below:
Step 1. First of all, press the Apple Watch’s digital crown, the little knob on the right side of the device.
Step 2. Next tap gear-shaped icon of the “Settings” app.
Step 3. Off the new screen that appears, navigate down and tap on “Display & Brightness”.
Step 4. Now you will get to see the “Always-on” option on the next screen, so tap on it.
Step 5. It will show the “Always-on” toggle option. Tap on it once to turn it off.
NOTE: On this very screen, just below the “Always-on” toggle option, there is the “Hide Sensitive Complications” option. In case you don’t want to turn down the Apple Watch’s display, you can turn on this option. It will simply prevent private information from displaying when your device is not fully awake.
Method #2: Disable Always-On Feature using Watch App on iPhone
Alternatively, you can use the Apple Watch application on your iPhone to disable the feature.
You may need to do it in scenarios when you don’t have the watch on your wrist, but you do have your iPhone with you. Since both of them are synced, you can use your iPhone to disable the display screen even from a distance.
To do this, follow the steps below:
Step 1. Locate the “Watch” app icon on the screen. You can use the Spotlight search feature to find the app.
Step 2. Scroll down the screen, and tap on the “Display & Brightness” option.
Step 3. Tap on the “Always-on” option from the next screen.
Step 4. Toggle “Always-on” slider to turn it off.
Again, here also you can use the “Hide Sensitive Complications” option to stop displaying the private information when the watch’s screen is not completely awake.
Conclusion:
When you are doing exercise, when you are running out battery juice, disabling the Always-on feature is a sensible choice. But if you want to turn it again, when you need the display screen to be always on, enable it again by toggling it on.
