How to make free space on your Computer
First of all, you need to understand that you will have to put out reserve space for your own computer. What it means is that you will have to keep at least 20GB of free space on your computer so that your system can run smoothly. If all hard disks are full then your computer will run very slow. This will affect your daily work scheduled on your computer.
So without further ado, let’s get started with the methods.
Method 1: Delete Old Multimedia Collection.
This is one of the easiest way to make countless free space on your computer. You will be surprised to see how much space does your multimedia files takes on your computer. When I started to manage my hard disks to make some free space, I jumped into my movies and music folders and saw I had over 1 thousand gigabytes of collection. This is true that you will watch hardly four or five movies from your collection and rest is just garbage, trust me, you will never watch or listen to those multimedia ever again but you will constantly think that you might someday. Well, you can keep some of your favorite collection but rest has to go. When I deleted movies and videos and music from my collection, I had successfully freed over eight hundreds GBs of data. You can try too. Even if you don’t free up that much space but still you will be able to make some room on your system.
Method 2: Run Disk Cleanups
Windows does have this feature preinstalled on your computer. You don’t have to buy any additional software for this. To perform a disk cleanup, just follow these steps:
Step 1. Right click on your hard drive and click on “Properties”.
Step 2. Click on “Disk Cleanup” from the options under General tab.
Step 3. Select the file types which you want to delete and press “OK”.
This will delete all unwanted files from your computer and will save you at least couple of GBs of space.
Method 3: Uninstall Unused Software and Applications
There will be many application and software installed on your computer that you never use and it just takes up all the space on your system. So simply find those software and delete them. Here’s how to do that.
Step 1. Click on Start followed by Control Panel.
Step 2. You will see the list of software that are installed on your computer. Simply check which software are not required and uninstall them.
This will free up couple of GBs space as well and make some room on your system hard drive which you can use to install new software.
Method 4: Delete Duplicate Files
Specially, delete duplicate images, music and videos. There will be countless numbers of duplicate photos and images and movies in your computer. Find those files and delete them permanently. You can use some free online duplicate finder software to automate this work. But this will free up a lot of space on your computer.
