There is no built in way to make Cortana use Google as default search engine.
After the launch of Windows 10, some developers soon found a few solutions to get around this problem. Though these solutions can redirect searches to Google from Bing, there is one problem with them. These solutions only work with Chrome or Firefox. First you will have to download Google Chrome and set it as your default browser. After that you have to install the Chrometana extension for Chrome, which is free. After the installation of Chrometana, Google will be automatically selected as the default search engine. It means all your queries will be redirected to Google. For example even if you go to Bing.com and type your query, it will give you the answer in Google. The Chrometana extension redirects all the Bing searches to Chrome, not only the Cortana ones. Itdoesn’t work for queries that pop right up in the Start menu like a weather forecast. You have to click for more information and in that case your query is redirected to Google.
If you are a Firefox user, then making Cortana use another search engine is really very easy. First you have to set Firefox as your default browser and ensure that you are using the latest version of Firefox. Then you have to go to options > search. There you will find many options like Google, Yahoo, and Wikipedia etc. then choose Google as your default search engine. Once you have done this, all your questions and search will be directed to Google. Mozilla Firefox is working on its own so that the upcoming versions of Mozilla Firefox will involuntarily redirect Cortana searches to your chosen search engine.
It means, when you type a query into the Cortana search box on your desktop, the answer that will pop up in Chrome will be from Google. This is really a seamless solutions and works without any glitches. Some users may think that installing an add o to make Cortana redirect your queries through Google may slow things down. But the users who are using these solutions to get around this problem did not notice any difference ant time it took to complete the searches. So we can very well say that using these solutions is the simplest way to make Google your default search engine.
